Christmas Reflections: Warm Plates, Warmer Hearts

Christmas, for me, is imagined as a quiet glow rather than a loud party. I picture a slow morning, soft light on the floor, and the smell of something sweet baking. The best part is always the pause. No rushing. Just being present. I imagine getting comfortably stuffed, not just with food, but with stories, laughter, and that calm feeling you only get once a year. No wild parties, just close voices, shared jokes, and a long evening that doesn’t ask for anything more.

If I could choose a favorite kind of moment, it would be sitting back after the meal, plates still out, everyone relaxed and honest.

And since poetry belongs to moments like this, here’s one I love:

Winter knocks gently,
Candles answer back.
In shared silence,
Hearts learn how to rest.

Your turn now. How did your Christmas feel?
